Busy, Busy, Busy
Hello All it's been a really busy few weeks getting adjusted to be back in school after soooooo many years away. It's a lot to readjust to and discipline yourself for. The biggest thing for me is all the reading that has to be done in a day and a half. Don't get me wrong I'm not complaining I love this as it is, the beginning of my future. To move on to crafting, I haven't done any knitting this week but I did make a curtain for my girls' room. I'm 75% done on the Blue Gable for my youngest DD and I have to get that done before the end of this month. I'll be back next week with an update on the Gable. Unitl then, stay crafty. :0)

Happy July Everyone
Well, it's July already and I'm a student again after many years away from academia. I'm carrying a full load and it's something to get use to. Time management is something I have to really get together to be successful. I have made a few things since my last post. I made a skirt for my youngest DD, a school bag for me, and I'm still working on my DD Blue Gable. Here's a pic of the Gable so far and my bag. I still want to refashion a dress into something summery and there are a few people at school who want to have a bag made so I have plenty to do. I finally have a BUTTON so take it.

It's getting closer to start date for school and I'm excited and nervous all at the same time. It's going to be great. I'll be back with some pics soon as I've done some knitting and sewing over the past few days in between getting things organized with the kids and for school. So...........I'll be back. Look I've finished Something
the skirt is blurry the detail is not clear sorry. I'll take more
It's been a while since my last post. Here are 2 items finished for my oldest DD. The Pink Gable is finally complete and there's now a skirt to go with it. For me this is big. I started a project, frogged the whole thing, started it again and finished.....yes, accomplishment. I'm growing in my knitting. Thanks Zephyr Girls for the wonderful pattern and to all the ladies at Green Gable KAL for all the wonderful encouragement. Project #2 a skirt to go with the Pink Gable summer sweater. I sew the skirt tonight and it was really easy.......this is the first time I've ever used a store bought pattern to make an item. I normally take our measurements and go from there. I've already begun another GGable sweater and will give myself 2wks to finish. I'm 25% into already.

Has there been any Progress?
This is my Dad known by all as "BIG DADDY" as he would say the original.
Well........the question is has there been any progress. The answer to that is YES!!!!!! I am half way to the finish line on my DD's Pink Gable. I made my DAD an apron for Father's Day since he's been cooking all my life. He looks good in his apron...if I do say so myself. I took time out yesturday to try and make some sense out of my sewing and knitting and I must say I found yarn I forgot I even had. Needless to say, it was like Christmas in June. I plan to have the Pink Gable completed by Weds. and then I need to make me 2 skirts for school which begins in a few weeks. I told my 109yr. old Great Aunt and she thinks it's great but told me that my talents to create things is where my money will come from. I believe that God gave her those words just for me as I've been praying for a way to make some extra money without having to get a job and go to school full-time. Please don't get upset I know it's done everyday but I'm looking towards my dream of crafting freedom. With that all said I'll be back in a few days to post more pics.

Pink Gable Frogged and Re-started
this is the new pink gable
this is the one that had to be ripped to shreds.....isn't good I can laugh at myself?
Ok, I just couldn't in all good craftsmenship let this be my finished project. I was knitting in through the front which took my gable and twisted the bias.......HORRIBLE!!!!!! As you can tell from the pic it was too short, twisted to the right side and the chest area just wasn't working.......so much for trying to increase w/o short rows. I started this over a few days ago and already there's such a big difference I'm really proud to say this is my creation. With the right technique this project is going much faster. I also want to say that I made up my mind about what my major will be. I'm going to take business administration/computer application and the program is really good I will get my Associates degree in '08 and they have it worked out with one of our larger universities that you go an extra 14 months and recieve your Bachelors degree HOW SWEET. Needless to say, I'm excited and nerveous all at one time but this is a great beginning.

Could the Day get any Worse?
My day has been crazy bad. First, my beloved Grandmother passed, my car stopped due to an electrical problem I've been having for a while but will never show up at the dealership, and then I finally got home and discovered I had a flat tire. The rest of this evening has to be better. I'm almost done with my DD's Pink Gable so stay tuned for the pics. I'll have my machines back tomorrow so I can make her skirt to go with it.

I Need Some Support
It's been a very rough 2 days. My family was given the bad news that my Grandmother is in her final stage of cancer and they gave her 24hrs yesturday but thankfully she's still here. I've been through this with my other Grandmother back in 2000 but you never get use to it. I haven't picked up my 2 UFO's so far but I'm going to try and finish my DD's sweater tonight. I've been reading through blogs today to keep my mind off what's going on. I'm asking for those who believe in prayer to remember me and my family that we will come together and add support to one another and honor the life and legacy of a strong, proud woman. I just needed to vent. Thanks to all you for listening. This moment won't last forever..........even the happiest of us has our moments.

Okay I did it Again..............
this is Casscade yarn and the pic doesn't do the color justice.
this book was only 4.99 and has a lot of info and cute patterns
my youngest DD and I picked these out in hopes of using up my stash This pic is blurry....sorry but the material is blue and white/pink linen for skirts for my DDs to go with the GGable sweaters I'm knitting for them. I'm 3 1/2" away from finishing the first one.
Yes, I did it again. I took my serger to the shop because my needle broke and the tip fell down and threw the timing off. It'll be $90 to get fixed. My Rose machine is already in the shop getting a overhaul I get that done yearly so I have nothing to sew with right now. OH NO!!!!!!!!! While I was there I found this yarn and then at JoAnn's I found the rest of these goodies. I'm getting ready to go to church but had to post.

What have I been doing??? You really do want to know
Hello All, I'm so excited about the evening I had. I was able to go to the Therapy Kafe for a little knitting with some very nice ladies. I have been trying to make it there for some time but my schedule never permitted me to. I will be stopping all activities on Tuesday to make it there. I always wanted to experience knitting with a group and they are even talking about taking a knitting trip. I've been busy taking care of my 2 lil nieces but aren't they cute. I have made some progress figuring out the ggable chest for my daughter. Thanks Lindy and Tara. I've also been working on this ggable knit for a while and since I couldn't get the chest right I had to frog it 3 times and now I still had an issue with getting the sweater to fit my DD in the shoulders and arms but the chest has posed a problem a few times. Look for a photo of the ggable in a few days. OK I can't get my pics to upload right now.

What is a Crafter to do?
OK........... I have discovered http://Knitty.com I didn't know how wonderful and fun their site is. This weekend has been a crazy one for me I'm still trying to unpack with a bad back so the process is at a snails pace. I also made a major decision this past week and that was to go ahead and quit my job taking a buyout for a nice amount and with tuition re-imbursement for 2yrs. so it's off to school for me. The big question is what direction do I want to go in. I have a newfound love for crafting and my poetry all of which surfaced over the past few years. My heart is leading me to go with a business degree and writing on the side. I'm not sure just yet which way but I do know that having my own business to display my work. My work isn't the norm but my skills need to be honed as everything I do is self-taught. I see things and pretty much go for it. I buy fabrics because they speak to me and the same with my yarn. I want to be a free spirited crafter who can spend my time concentrating on my projects and my girls. I feel I'm on my way to that now. I've been praying to get this together and I believe things will fall into place. I'm still working on my ggable for my DD and now that I made the corrections it's coming along well. I think that's enough for now just needed to get that off my chest.

I plan to make somethings for my 4 little nieces all 5 yrs. and under with another girl to arrive Aug. 28th I found some very wonderful yarns I can't wait to work with and what made this so much better was the company. I was able to gleen a little more knowledge from Tara and Lindy and got a great deal on my purchase.

What I've been up to.............
Today has been a day of webring experiments......ha ha ha. I'm not really computer savy but I'm doing all I can to learn how to get in the groove of being a true knitting blogger. I have been casting on and ripping out my green gable KAL since Friday. I finally got it last night and took a picture of it so I can post it on my blog. Let me know what you think of it. I wanted to get back to my socks for my gf in Colorado but I felt compelled to cast-on my Pink gable correctly and make some progress. I didn't realize that I would want to keep going all day. It's rainy here in OH and the only time I've been outside was to get my girls from band practice. I'll get back to posting more often in a day or so. I found out Friday that my LYS is making changes and now they won't be at the Market anymore but I can still get my stash replenished and I always have Patternworks to go to. Got to go Gabling.

My Sock........the saga continues
I went to my LYS and I'm coming along just fine. Yeah. It feels good to know that I figured out my mistake on my own and corrected it. That's what knitting is all about. I know they say that all artist put a slight flaw in their creations to show originality and I feel like everything needs to be perfect but I'm learning that this is a learning process and I love the theraputic feel of knitting so I'll just keep on knitting away. Happy Knitting

My Sock
I am working on my gf sock while waiting on my greengable yarns to arrive. I am having some issues with the gusset but I'm going to my LYS tomorrow for some help. I will knit more socks after this so I can stay familiar with the forming of the gusset. OH MY GOODNESS this is one of my knitting adventures. I also still have to complete my shawl and my scarf. I decided to include a pic of where I am on my sock so you all can see where I'm stuck.
Knitting Blogs & other Ramblings
I finally figured out how to get buttons on my blog. I'm working on my sock for my friend in Colorado and I'm at the gusset and I think I'm going to have to take it back out to the heel flap. This is my second pair of socks and I wished I would've keep on making socks when I first learned how to properly do the gusset. I'm waiting for my cotton fleece to arrive so I can begin my Green Gable Sweater.

Searching for Yarn
I have been searching for my yarn for the Green Gables Knit-a-long and can't find it so I'll order it today and hopefully have it by Monday. I won't be posting until sometime next week because I'm moving this weekend and it will take me some time to get things together and I have an order of corsages and boutineers to do for Mother's day. I didn't know that finding Cotton Fleece yarn would be so difficult. Maybe it's just the area I live in. It seems we're just really catching on to the knitting craze. My socks are coming along well since the ribbing was finally corrected. My Shawl is just stuck, but not for long. I'm just really itching to try the Green Gable sweater it will be a big move for me a scarf and hat lady but you never grow unless you take the plunge. I think I finally figured out how to post my buttons to my blog, oh how I hope so. I'm also waiting to see if I made it onto the knitting blogs net ring I've had so much trouble that I don't know if they will even except me right now but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. This is all of my ramblings for the day. I can't wait to move and I be back in touch in a few days. Until then........happy knitting.

Just a Few Words
I joined the Green Gables Knitting blog and I'm excited about that. I still have to get my yarn for my sweater. My youngest girl wants me to make for her so the yarn will more than likely be some color blue (her fav. color) I still have yet to figure out how to put my buttons on my page. Could someone please give me some advice. Thanks!!!! I had to pull my sock apart twice so far because the rib pattern wasn't coming out right and I'm still not use to working with such small size needles. I've been looking at different sites trying to learn as much as I can and the more I look the more I feel I don't know. I have some much going on that I can't make the times of the knitting circles I would like to participate in because of conflicting schedules with my kids band practice. I'm still trying to find a pattern for the Melody yarn from Patons but I don't like what they have on their website. I want something exciting and my friend is also plus size so I want it to be flattering. If you have any suggestions as I'm just starting to find a few plus size patterns I would be grateful. Hope everyone is having a knitting good day and I'll be back.

Sock Time
I'm making a pair of socks for the 2nd time. I thought that since making socks is pretty easy I'd take some time and try my hand a varying styles and types of yarn. I want to make some lacy socks and I eventually want to try intarsia knitting but I know I still have a way to go before I'm that accomplished. I ordered this yarn from Patternworks.com I really have come to like their selection of yarns and notions. They even have a knitting club where you can order free samples of yarn to make guage swatches, you get coupons towards future items and also upgraded shipping. I'll have an update on my socks in a few days.......or so.
Delicate Summer Shawl
I saw this yarn at Lindy's shop (Knittique) and the color which is a melon color reminded so much of spring that I had to have it. I started knitting this last week and although I'm using size 15 needles I'm still finding it a bit tedious to work with. I am trying to keep experimenting with new yarns and textures as I feel this will help me on further projects. I'm hoping to complete this in a few weeks I'll post my progress next week. I can see wearing this with a white outfit in the evening with a light flower pin to complete the look. Pretty huh?
New Project
I'm about to start a new project for my girlfriend in Colorado. I want to knit her a sweater since she crochet a poncho for me. I found this Patons Melody yarn in Magenta and thought the texture was soft and breatheable. I'm not quite sure which pattern to use. I'm going to keep looking through a few books I have and check out some options for a nice sweater pattern.

Red Poncho 4/4/06
I decided that I wanted to make me a knitted poncho and experiement with the eyelash yarn. I made this in 2 pieces and then sewed it toghether. It was a big hit at church and with my daughters who in turn asked me to make them one. Well that's a project not started but I have to get on that ASAP. I have been away for a while because of the reconstruction on my apartment. We've been out of it everysince March 12th but I've tried to sneak in where I could to post to my site so I can keep myself motivated to do new projects.
Back to the Scarf
I had to get this yarn. One is called Moulin Rouge and it just feels so good next to your skin. I love yarns that feel good to me. I got the glitter yarn to make it look a little more exciting. I still haven't finished this. I'm about 40% done it sitting on a stitch holder right now because I found a skein of recycled sari yarn and started making a hobo market bag. I hope to finish this within the next few weeks. Sometimes it's so hard for me to stick to one project if I see something else that screams at me.
Morgan's Sweater and Purse Set 3/06
I began this project last year and just finished it in March after my apartment flooded I needed to have something to keep my mind off of the disaster the flood created. I wanted this to be done for her for Christmas to match the blue jean skirt I made her but I had a flare up with my carpal tunnel and couldn't knit as much. I used some Red Heart fluffy yarn in varigated greens and added beads to the sweater and to the little purse I created to go along with it. I knitted the purse 7" across and 9" long and made a handle casting on 3 stitches. I made a little lining out of a scrap piece of fabric attached a snap and there you have. I'm quite proud of this project. It's the first knitted handbag I've made.
Denise Interchangeable Needles 3/11/06
I found these needles at Lindy's shop and I had to have them especially after I saw that they were 5 dollars cheaper than ordering them from a catalog. They go from size 5 to 15 and the assembly of the needles to the cables are easy and sturdy. I have been very pleased so far with there preformance. I thought they would be so different from using my bamboo needles. I look forward to creating more items with these needles.
More Yarn 3/2/06
I couldn't help myself my knitting friend Lindy owns Knittique a quaint little shop in our Market place in downtown Dayton, Oh. There are always new yarns I only see in my Creative Knitting and Vogue Knitting Magazines and just have to have them although it takes me a long time to get a new project going because I have so many others on needles. Aren't these yarns pretty it's like looking at candy almost. Yum Yum.
Old blog DELETED 4/28
I started a blog back in Feb. '06 but I couldn't post any thing new for the last week or so and I had to delete and start all over again. my old blog name was Knitgirl06 now it's Knitgirll06. I'm trying to join a knitting ring. I had to come in and put in the dates of these projects and try to get things back in order. I hope to have a better experience with this blog than with my last one. I know that I probably won't get into a knitting ring yet because of this set back but I'm not giving up hope.
Socks 2/18
here are the first pair of socks I knitted. I was inspired to make them from looking at other knitting blogs and everyone had so many nice socks with such vibrant colors and I just had to get that project started. I got stuck and found a local knit store owner who was willing to sit down with me and help me get my heel flap together and I was on my way.
my first project 2/06
my first project was a scarf......duh, like I would make anything else. I had learned to crochet several years ago and did alot of blankets and tried my had at some baby sweaters also. I eventually got online and looked up knitting instructions. It took me about 2wks. to figure out the diagram for casting on. I'm a visual person but I just couldn't get that together for nothing. Needless to say I got it.
